ArcelorMittal is the leader in delivering a variety of steel grades and solutions to line pipe and Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) customers, meeting the most sophisticated requirements. We meet Made & Melt in USA requirements. Our line pipe portfolio includes all API grades through X-80, including sour service applications. These grades are available in both hot rolled coils and plates in a variety of thicknesses and widths.

Pipe ring forming equipment and ring expansion test
| Challenge | Mechanical properties of flat products change when formed into cylindrical pipes. Curved samples from cylindrical pipes must be flattened to make tensile specimens, which alters mechanical properties. The magnitude of these changes varies with wall thickness, pipe diameter, and forming/flattening processes. |
| Solution | Our global R&D team has invested in new equipment to simulate the pipe forming process and eliminate specimen flattening. This includes a roll bending machine that allows full thickness coil/plate samples to be formed into actual diameter cylinders simulating the deformations of pipe manufacture. A complimentary ring expansion test unit capable of measuring the yield strength of 16-48-inch diameter pipe in the native pipe cylindrical form provides a more accurate measure of strength in pipe form. |
