Associate engineer/analyst - IT infrastructure network-telecommunications

This position will be responsible for the design, installation, and daily management of the network-telecommunication hardware and software.  This includes the LAN (wired and wireless), WAN, and VOIP systems.

Some typical position requirements include:

1. Configuration-installation of Cisco network access points, routers and switches.
2. Configuration-installation of Cisco VOIP gateways and phones.
3. Troubleshooting problems within the network utilizing various tools (network monitoring, cable testers, packet analyzer, etc.)
4. Hands-on work with the network-telecommunications equipment in office and industrial environments.
5. Participation and coordination of the termination/testing of Fiber-optic & Category 5E/6 cabling.
6. Off-hour (outside of normal business hours Monday-Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM) support for scheduled changes and failures that require immediate attention.

Candidates should be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in information systems or computer science.

Associate representative - health and safety

ArcelorMittal USA has a limited number of cccupational health & safety representative positions available.

As an occupational safety and health representative, you will take a hands-on approach to helping prevent harm to employees, property and the environment; promoting occupational health and safety within the organization by advising and guiding management and union employees to provide a safe working environment for the company’s employees; and achieving maximum results with an eye towards cost-effectiveness.  

The occupational safety and health representative will be responsible for collecting data and using that data in analyzing work environments; identifying hazardous conditions and practices (risk assessment); identifying potential hazards in systems, equipment or process (risk reduction); identifying locations where controls may be implemented to reduce or eliminate hazards; designing programs to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury; and implementing and evaluating programs designed to limit risks to employees.  He or she will conduct inspections and audits for compliance to state and federal laws or employer policies; provide training sessions for management and employees on health and safety practices and regulations; monitor and evaluate the safety program’s progress; ensure equipment meets safety regulations; ensure personal protective equipment is being used in the workplace according to regulations or company policies; perform studies on noise, radiation, worker exposure; investigate accident(s) as to causes and recommend corrective and preventive action(s); advise management on the cost and effectiveness of safety and health programs; and prepare reports including accident, injury, OSHA, and safety statistics.  A successful candidate will have excellent communication, team building, problem solving, decision making, and writing skills.

Associate analyst - accounting

As an associate analyst at ArcelorMittal USA, you will perform accounting duties, including:  providing accounting analysis to support day to day operations and overall business decisions; preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to US GAAP and IFRS; preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs; developing, implementing, modifying, and documenting accounting systems, making use of current computer technology;  recommending, developing, and maintaining solutions to business and financial problems; managing inventory controls and accuracy; insuring adherence to all SOx, ArcelorMittal Corporate and plant guidelines, policies and procedures; protecting the assets of ArcelorMittal; providing daily, weekly and monthly cost and analytical information to management; assisting in monthly book closing process; assisting in the development of cost control and cost reduction programs; assisting in short and long range planning; assisting in developing studies which address yields, costs, unit throughput, and product capability; and various other duties as needed to support the business.

Associate analyst - procurement

Associate engineer/analyst - IT applications systems

As an applications systems engineer/analyst you will be involved in the analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing and information applications, and various other duties as needed to sustain & transform the business for ArcelorMittal USA.  The company is implementing major business transformation initiatives including SAP for Order Management & packaged Manufacturing Execution Systems. Other automation project assignments include developing web based systems for order change management, spend management, inventory sales & customer profitability.  Microsoft products are key components of our solution set.

Engineer/analyst intern - IT - applications systems

Applications systems engineer/analyst intern:

Under the guidance of appropriate senior personnel, you will be introduced to change management processes, a development environment, and software development principles to deliver change requests for the business. Intern responsibilities may include: developing project plans, developing code specifications, coding, designing functional test conditions, test scenarios & test data, executing tests, reviewing test results, resolving errors, participating in product readiness testing, participating in root cause analysis, or documentation. You will be expected to deliver quality results on time to meet business requirements, as well as to implement or migrate changes into a production environment. Your assignment can involve all or a few of the above responsibilities & provide support to a variety of functional business areas from commercial, manufacturing or finance. You may also participate in process improvement efforts & perform other team/project role tasks as resource requirements & skill sets dictate.  You will be expected to adhere to business & departmental procedures. Development work would likely be in .Net, VB & SQL.  

Candidates should have completed at least their sophomore year of study by the summer of 2017.  They should be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in information systems or computer science.  The preferred candidate will also have education, experience or demonstrated interest in business management.

Engineer/analyst intern - IT infrastructure

Network-telecommunications position:

1. Participate in the “Network Risk Mitigation” work on the backbone/manufacturing networks at Indiana Harbor, which will help to reduce costly manufacturing outages.  This work includes design, configuration, and installation of network infrastructure equipment. (Cisco access points/Ethernet switches). This will also include participation and coordination of the termination/testing of Fiber-optic & Category 5E/6 Cabling.  

2. Participate in VOIP (Voice Over IP) phone support at Indiana Harbor which includes migration from some existing conventional phone lines to VOIP.  The work includes configuration, and installation of the VOIP phones and Voice Gateways.

Candidates should be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in information systems or computer science, and have completed at least their sophomore year of study by the summer of 2017.

Candidates should be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in accounting, finance or another business related field; have completed at least their sophomore year of study by the summer of 2016.
